Solution Description:

Future Air Force data links will require a Type-1 End Cryptographic Unit (ECU) for waveform TRANSEC and other security functions, such as Data-at-Rest decryption, while operating within extreme Size, Weight, and Power constraints. They must also receive keys remotely, out-of-band. Arkham Technology is ready to go with a Type-1 crypto engine called the KMI/IoT Processor (KIP) that has demonstrated TRANSEC and remote-keying capability. The KIP crypto engine was developed as part of an AFRL SBIR Phase II contract, and is built upon Arkham Technology’s NSA-evaluated, TRL-9 cryptographic Intellectual Property that has been successfully embedded in other NSA certified equipment. The KIP is a Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) aware Type-1 network crypto that is designed to secure SWaP constrained Internet of Things (IoT) systems in future multi-domain battlefields. Remote keying is provided with Over-the-Network Keying (OTNK). The KIP also has a history in data link security. During the Air Force SMC’s Protected Tactical SATCOM DFARR contract, we demonstrated the KIP performing TRANSEC for the Protected Tactical Waveform (PTW) in over-the-air tests. Our current prototype KIP module is ~3.10 in2 and consumes 1.5W of power.
