Solution Description:

Warfighters have an excessive amount of gear to carry into combat, and they shouldn’t be carrying redundant equipment. Cryptographic key loading requires heavy, single-purpose devices to be hand-carried to each COMSEC device, like a secure radio or network encryptor, one after another. This manual loading takes minutes from the mission, potentially under enemy fire, clicking away through menu-after-menu with a stylus. Warfighters now have modern cyber-hardened smartphones in their arsenal, but they’re not tamper-resistant and don’t have the cryptographic hardware needed to protect classified keys. Arkham Technology’s Last-Inch Load Device (LLD) allows Warfighters to securely use these multi-function smartphones to load keys into COMSEC equipment, eliminating unnecessary Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) and automating key delivering using the latest Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) aware Over-the-Network Keying (OTNK). The LLD does this by consolidating all of the cryptographic functions in a tiny tamper-resistant token, which lets the smartphone operate without being exposed to the sensitive keys.
