Solution Description:

Balex Technologies is developing disruptive computer technology that will increase Input/Output speeds and reduce latency by well over an order of magnitude. The data transmission rates between storage and processors has lagged well behind the increases in processor speed and parallelization, bandwidth and the growth of data in storage media. The data congestion this produces for I/O intensive applications can cause processors to spend most of their time waiting for data. Balex’s Scalable Data Access System (SDAS) technology is the computational equivalent of installing as many high-speed, superhighway lanes as needed to handle the data traffic flow. Our technology has the potential to enhance the performance of many DOD applications including modeling and simulations, artificial intelligence and machine learning, image processing, hypersonic weapons defense, threat detection and threat discrimination. The initial application of our technology will for high performance computing systems to improve modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Later generations of our technology can be miniaturized and incorporated into mobile and portable systems. We are collaborating with the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at the University of Texas at Austin and we have attracted interest from DOD and major research institutions.
