Materion has been providing precision optics for space-based instrumentation and imaging since the earliest space flights, supporting more than 100 flights over the past 40 years. We’ve developed specialized expertise in the design, manufacture and testing of high-performance beam splitters and multispectral filter arrays that reduces stray light, subsequently reducing ghosting and boosting signal-to-noise ratio, and ultimately improve image quality. Our filter arrays enhance system performance while reducing size and weight enabling our customers to miniaturize their systems and lower costs. The combination of our innovative optical filter manufacturing technology, along with our precision microlithography and dicing capabilities, allows us to produce filter assemblies or patterned arrays with the following benefits: wide spectral range; capture more than one transmission band with a single optical element; produced to meet any size or weight limitation; very fine pitch; cryogenic or ambient operation; space qualified; and stray light reduction. Our products and materials are used in applications including: Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance functions; Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR); Electro-Optical Infrared (EO/IR) systems; and Precision Filters including multi-bands in UV, VIS, SWIR, MWIR and LWIR spectra.
