Solution Description:

SaFIRE-GEMS allows satellites to protect themselves using onboard autonomy that acts on a local Space Situational Awareness picture developed by the satellite itself – fusing local and available remote data sources to identify emerging conditions impacting satellite operations and responding to them in real-time. A primary example is the discovery and monitoring of Resident Space Objects predicted to become proximal to the satellite, and autonomously maneuvering to clear the condition (if appropriate) while continuing nominal mission roles with minimal disruption.
